Caerphilly Castle

The largest castle in Wales, Caerphilly Castle dominates the town. It was built by Gilbert de Clare to fend off challenges from his contemporary, Llywelyn ap Gruffydd. The Butes restored the castle during the 19th century after it had fallen into disrepair.
