Barbara Davies
The Coronation, the Investiture and Aberfan are the subjects of this interviewee. She remembers watching the Coronation in a village hall and the fact that this was a rare social event was pure pleasure to a child who was being raised on a remote farm. She talks about seeing the Investiture - and the images which have stayed with her by now are the Queen's hat and the guests' red chairs. Whilst discudding Aberfan she says she saw the images and lifted her small child from the crib and cuddled her, feeling that she could escape with the baby should something similar hit her home. Because of television Aberfan felt very close even though by then she lived in Pembrokeshire.
