The interviewee remembers television sets arriving in Trefor one by one, and watching cowboy programmes with friends. There was a carnival in Trefor to celebrate the Queen's Coronation. The interviewee heard the news about drowning Tryweryn through the medium of radio but discussions at school were the most important things. The interviewee was working in Porthmadog on the day of Prince Charles' Investiture and remembers someone asking them to be quiet during the ceremony but to carry on working through the afternoon. The interviewee says that the debates before the Referendum were not important as he and everyone in his home had already decided and so there was no point in watching except to agree or to get annoyed. It is believed that broadcasts concerning the death of Diana influenced the 1997 Referendum and that the media had created a feeling of Britishness. He discusses the Miners' Strike and the way the media conveyed the government's point of view.
