Description
The local newspaper Haverfordwest and Milford Haven Telegraph reported the ‘Sad Spectacle’ of 25 men, mostly Chinese, from the steamship GLENOGLE arriving at Milford Haven in an exhausted state having been in an open boat for 5 days after their ship was torpedoed by U 24 on 27 March 1917. The Bethel Sailors’ home reported that they all needed treatment for frostbitten feet and had to be carried by stretchers.
