Description

The mansion house of Newton, near Llanfaes in Breconshire, here shown isolated in a dramatic setting. The house was built in 1582 by Sir John Games, former High Sheriff of Breconshire, and a large fireplace in the Great Hall bears this date. The impact of the four storey house on the landscape was further increased by its towering pyramid roof and tall chimneys. The engraver was C. P. Nicholl.
