VIENNA, Wednesday.

By command of the Emperor Francis Joseph. Dr F. SchiessI von Herstorff, Director of the Cabinet, has sent a telegram to Bombay to Captain Nitsche, in command of the Austrian Lloyd steamer Trieste, in which His Imperial Majesty expresses to the captain and crew of the Trieste his gracious satisfaction at their manly and devoted conduct. A telegram expressing the Emperor-King's thanks, and his sorrow at the death of the second engineer, was also addressed to the captain of the British collier Lowther Range, which went to the assistance of the disabled Trieste.

The text of the telegram to the captain of the Lowther Range was as follows: —

"Captain of the Lowther Range, Bombay." His Imperial and Royal Apostolic Majesty has given orders to express His Majesty's sincere thanks for the brave assistance given to the Austrian Lloyd steamer Trieste by the Lowther Range, and regrets that loss of life occurred on the occasion." —Reuter.
