Description

Linocut print of D. J. Williams by Paul Peter Piech.

D. J. Williams, or the 'Giant of Rhydcymerau', was a writer and nationalist who made an important contribution to Welsh literature and culture. With Saunders Lewis and Lewis Valentine he burnt the bombing school at Penyberth in 1936 because of their peaceful beliefs. He wrote two autobiographies, but the short story was his main creative medium. Amongst his most famous stories is the collection, ‘Hen Dŷ Fferm’, displayed here.
