Image 6: Brynhyfryd County School Choir, Ruthin, coached by Mr Aled Lloyd Davies, and who took part in the Children's Penillion Singing Choir under 18 years old, at Ebbw Vale on Tuesday. Mr Davies was unable to attend as he was at his mother's funeral.
Image 7: A great victory for Ammanford Choir Society at Ebbw Vale at the beginning of the week was winning the 'Y Cymro' cup, along with �150 in the main choral competition. The conductor, Mr Hywel G Evans, was welcomed warmly when he came out of the pavilion with the cup in his arms. The choir, who was awarded 180 marks, was eight marks in front of Broughton and District Choral Society, who came second. Llanelli was awarded 171 marks, Sciwen 170 and Merthyr Tydfil 161. Ammanford Choral Society has won eight or nine awards in local Eisteddfodau is-genedlaethol, and they war awarded second prize at Ystradgynlais National Eisteddfod and also at Pwhllheli.

They were awarded �90 and the Tredegar Workers Institution cup (to be held for a year). The parts that the choir sang were "Ddial o Cwyd" ("Dafydd a Saul", David Jenkins) and "Feinwen Pan Welaf I" (Wilbye).
