Thomas Thomas of Crosspenmain in the parish
of Monythusloyne in the County of Monmouth Beer-house
Keeper & Collier States - That I have known W. Crossfield
of Newport for several years- I know him to be an extensive
Dealer in Gun Powder - Six years ago I kept a general
shop at Crosspenmain - I was then in the habit of
purchasing quantities of powder of W. Crossfield t two or
three barrels at a time. Powder is generally used
in getting the Coals - it was generally known among the
Colliers that W. Crossfield was a Dealer in Powder. W.
Crossfield was also known to the Colliers on the Hills
as the Proprietor of the Trinant Colliery -
