A short Biography about Roy Dickinson from Newport, South Wales. Son of Caleb Dickinson from Jamaica, Roy lived in Newport, only leaving to serve on H.M.S Formidable during WW2.
Early life: parents background, life in Newport, education in St. Joseph’s Covent School. HMS Formidable: segregation during shore leave in the United States of America. Sports: Pill YMCA, competitive table tennis for YMCA and British Rail. Second World War: career in Pill with Newport Dock Railway, Royal Navy aged 17, HMS Formidable in the Pacific. Home return: de-mobbed, return to GWR Dock Railway. Family: wife and daughter, Eileen and Pamela.
