Description

A framed and glazed photograph which measures 15 inches x 11 inches.

It shows Councillor Joseph Davies, Mayor of Port Talbot 1931-1932 / Town Clerk (wearing the wig) Moses Thomas, who became a Freeman of the Borough in 1936.
The Police Officer furthest to the right is Superintendent Rhys Davies of the Glamorgan Constabulary. Photo was taken outside the Port Talbot Municipal Buildings, Water Street, Aberavon.

The two policemen at the back apear to be each carrying a ceremonial spear. They are not 'halberds', which were more common and on ceremonial events even today, can be seen carried by Swansea police officers (halberdiers).
Halberds, pole arms and spears were a regular feature in ceremonial events. They are still carried to this day by halberdiers in Swansea.
