Description
This photograph shows was in the possession of Charles Pope, a Royal Navy Veteran, whom served aboard Destroyers throughout WW2. Charles was a Stoker and would have served in ships alongside the Encounter on several occasions, including as part of Force H. He was an experienced engineer and may well have come aboard the ship to support the Boiler room crew at time of need. She was eventually lost following enemy action in the Java sea. This photograph along with Photographs of Charles and the ships he served on, as well as more documentation can be viewed in the Charles Pope collection on the West Wales Veterans archive. The photograph is in the possession of Charles' son Edward and remains with the family.
