Description

This is a photograph of a letter that Lord Louis Mountbatten wrote to Sergeant Roger Trenfield of the Royal Corps of Transport and is dated 28th June 1971. Sergeant Trenfield was a VIP driver int he British Army at the time and stationed in London. He recalls driving the Admiral to various locations over a period of time in the early 1970s. He had a great respect for the Admiral, who showed concern for the Sergeant and as the letter demonstrates, Lord Mountbatten valued the Sergeants skill in driving, especially through the London traffic. Roger has framed the letter and keeps it on display to remind him of cherished times and also has the original envelope with the letter.
