Description

Alfred Charles Edmund Cooksey (1896-1955) served in the Royal Naval Division (RND) 1915-1919. The photograph was possibly taken at Blandford were he underwent basic training before going to the Western Front in 1916, joining Hawke Battalion. He was from Oxford Street, Maerdy, Rhondda, Glam. He is the fourth from the left in the fourth row from the front with pen mark above his head (see also second photograph). Alfred was injured at the battle of Passchendaele 26 Oct. 1917.
