T. H. Parry-Williams (1887-1975) was a native of Rhyd-ddu, Caernarfonshire, and was Professor of Welsh at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, between 1920 and 1952. In addition to his scholarly achievements, Parry-Williams was an essayist and highly-successful poet and won the National Eisteddfod Chair and Crown in 1912 and 1915.
