Description
Nantgarw Colliery blacksmith with 'minecar' which was the usual coal transport underground at Nantgarw, other pits typically used smaller trucks variously known as 'drams' or 'tubs'.
This photo dates from the early 1960's and there appears to be construction going on at the left side of the image. Note the older pattern rivetted hard hat is worn. The photo pre-dates the introduction of moulded plastic ones which became the NCB standard.
