Description

Two traditional Welsh dance tunes. Ty Coch Caerdydd first appeared, as The Red House, in Playford's Dancing Master 1695, and may originally have been English. The tune also has connations to an historic Cardiff pub called The Red House, now demolished, but once an infamous member of the ranks of Cardiff public houses.

This recording is from a joint project between trac and Musik Dalarna in Sweden, with traditional Welsh tunes performed by ten young musicians under the name 'Degogenod', recorded at the Coal Exchange in Cardiff on 7 August 2003.

Degogenod: Elin Wyn Jones, Angharad Jenkins, Linos Eleri Jones, Jennifer Williams, Mari Williams, Christine Cooper, Jo Cooper, Kate Browning, Bethan Williams-Jones, Hayley Baldwin.
