Description

Note on the back reads:

“Palestine 1917
Josephs well where we draw our daily water supply out here. Note the ancient & peculiar process, & Palm trees in the distance also the native policeman guarding the gate. 01/01/17”

Evan Samuel Rees joined the army at 19 and served in the Middle East during the First World War. Medal no.1669, PTE E. S. Rees with the R.A.M.C (Royal Army Medical Corps). He survived the WW1 and returned to live at home in the Swansea area.
