On demob in 1945 Mr. J.I. Jones, MBE, returned to work in the family business (Jones Bros., Haulage Contractors, Marine Terrace, Aberystwyth). In 1951 he was appointed Civil Defence Officer for the former Cardiganshire County Council and held that position until the Government disbanded Civil Defence in 1968. In addition to his Civil Defence duties, he was also Road Safety Officer and Transport Manager for Cardiganshire County Council. He was a highly respected person and was commended by Sir. Richard Anderson, Director of Civil Defence Wales for developing one of the best Civil Defence Organisation in Wales. Mr. Jones retired in 1972 and remained an active member of the 146 Old Comrades Association until his death in 1986.
