The lady sitting on the left next to the head master is Mrs Catherine Mc Shane she used to be a teacher at Tanygrisiau primary school but went up to maenofferan as deputy head in the late 1970's

Mrs McShane was my aunt. She was headmistress in Tanygrisiau and then the girls primary school in Maenofferen before moving to the co-ed school.

Others I recogise/remember - Merfyn Jones (loved his cricket!!!) he is far right in back row. Owen Edwards (head) was also the head in the boys school. Staunch labour!! And I have never ever left an open "o" after he taught us handwriting in ink :-) Great teacher though. next to merfyn (who eventually became deputy head I believe) is Sylvia ann Jones. She was the pianist for the choir for many years. I was in the oakley Band with her husband, Dafydd Noel.
