Description
Grave in memory of Evan Jones in area B at St John's church, Ysbyty Cynfyn (B53). See plan for area B for the grave's location in the graveyard.
Inscription B53: YMA/ Y gorphwys y rhan/ Ddaearol o EVAN JONES/ Rhosygorlan ym mhlwyf/ Llanfihangel y croyddin/ Yr hwn a hunodd Ebrill/ y5ed 1843 yn 18 Mlwydd oed./ Yma gorphwys gwr rhinweddol./ Doeth a duw i ol ei dydd./ Llwyr gunhorau bawb oi deilu/ I ddyfal lymu yn y ffydd.
Description: Headstone which has been set into a drystone plinth/wall. Fair but there is split in the stone which may cause the back and the front to separate. Intricate fan designs in the top corners, line and dot design between the two fans. There is a carved arch above the YMA. Line carved separating the inscription from the message and another below the message.
This grave was photographed as part of a Graveyard Survey carried out with the help of volunteers in 2013.
