Description

This is a minutes book used to keep records of committee meetings for the Société Franco-Anglaise. The first entry is dated 4th July 1916 and it was used until 23rd October 1923. This is the first minute book in a collection of 14.

The Société Franco-Anglaise was established in 1906 to promote friendly British-French relations by encouraging people to learn about French culture and study the French language. Its French plays, library of French books and celebrations of French festivals has attracted many British and French members over the years. The society, which is a registered charity, is still active today organising lectures, social events and trips to France. In 1995 the Société Anglo-Francaise de Cardiff changed it's name to Société Franco-Britannique de Cardiff.
