Description

A copy of a painted wall panel found in the rock tomb of Prince Si-renput, Aswan, Egypt, made around 1900 BC. This copy was made by Henry Wallis during Sir Francis W. Grenfell's exploration of Egyptian tombs in the 1880s. Grenfell was then Commander of the Army in Egypt while it was under British occupation.

The painting, made in oils on linen, depicts a typical scene where the deceased is shown making his way into the next world. Si-renput sits before a table piled with offerings to the gods. His son, Anku, is shown opposite, holding a lotus flower.
