Description

An officer's swordstick, carried mainly for ceremonial purposes, concealing a blade in what looks like an officer's cane. The European swordstick originated in the late 18th century, when the carrying of swords openly with civilian dress became unfashionable. They allowed a blade to be carried for defensive or offensive purposes, as long as it was concealed.
