Description

Humphrey Jones writes to his parents on 8 July 1854 from London where he has gone to find work as a chemist and druggist. He has not been successful in finding employment yet but he has made an application for a post in Windsor. Although Windsor is some 20 miles from London, Humphrey says that it is a 'fashionable place' as Queen Victoria resides there when parliament is not sitting.
