Description

Gwaun-cae-gurwen

A postcard c 1926 looking south-east showing the Viaducts.

Contributed by David W Eynon

The one on the left is the main line to Garnant, the other which was not completed is the line to Cwmgors. It was planned to transport the coal to Swansea docks via Pontardawe, but the line was only completed to where Abernant was built. The roof of the Welfare Hall can just be seen over the tops of the terrace of houses on the left.
