The Brecon Jazz Festival has been a hugely significant stage for Wonderbrass for many years of its history From parades and outdoor gigs in the town centre to the Castle Hotel and the stage of Theatr Brycheiniog the band have brought their vibrant and dynamic party spirit to the festival. The festival in turn has provided an opportunity for the band to play on the same programme as many international names in the Jazz world. The festival has also provided an opportunity to showcase some of the collaborations the band has enjoyed, such as those with Jason Yarde and Amampondo. In 2012 Wonderbrass formed the heart of a saxophone flash mob which included such big sax names as Yolanda Brown and Iain Ballamy. Brecon has been one of those band associations that has allowed band members just a little bit of swagger. In the 'My First Gig' video in this story former member Mike Williams describes the feeling of his first outing with the band at Brecon: 'I found myself on stage at the Brecon Jazz Festival next to experienced trombonists, pretending I knew what I was doing ...; I really enjoyed it, and walking around with a little badge that says 'musician'. I was posing a little bit, really.'
