About
Gwent Family History Society is a Registered Charity which exists to encourage an interest in family history and genealogy amongst the people of Gwent and those living elsewhere who have connections with the old county of Monmouthshire. It also exists to provide advice to those seeking their ancestors and instruction in the techniques of research. We have 5 branches throughout the county who hold monthly meetings for practical research sessions and talks on family history related topics.
One of the projects we are currently working on is updating exisitng lists of gravestones and photographing the Monumental Inscriptions in the burial grounds of churches and chapels within the old county of Monmouthshire.
Gwent FHS is a member of the Federation of Family History Societies and the Association of Family History Societies of Wales.
